It’s nearly impossible to talk about Danielle Moss without talking about her store, because it is so much a part of her, and she is so much a part of it. Danielle opened Spirit Journey (Gifts for the Mind, Body, and Spirit) in Issaquah three years ago with little fanfare. Since that time, it has become a haven, a sanctuary, and a focal point for many people in the metaphysical community on the Far Eastside. If you haven’t been to Spirit Journey, you should pay it a visit; it’s a quick 20 minute drive from Seattle, and well worth the trip.

Once there you will find a unique and beautiful assortment of metaphysically-oriented merchandise: from jewelry and crystals, to ritual tools, books, music, and locally-produced art objects. But Spirit Journey is more than just a store; it is a community of people that Danielle has brought together. Psychic readings are nearly always available, with a different psychic “on-duty” every day of the week. You can also get Reiki treatments, foot reflexology, Spiritual Response Therapy, Astrological charts and interpretations, and even chiropractic adjustments from one of the best Chiropractors in the area. Someone may be getting a Detoxing Foot Bath and chatting amicably with another person waiting for their appointment with the on-duty psychic.

When you visit, you’ll probably be greeted by Binks, the Bichon-Poo who is both the Princess and Protector of the store; you’re welcome to help yourself to a cup of herbal tea, and there are frequently other goodies available for gnoshing. Spirit Journey is a place where people from a wide range of spiritual traditions can come together in mutual respect and good-will; which is truly in keeping with CASA’s Mission and Vision. And it is all due to this one woman, Danielle Moss, who lives life with an infectious good-will and joy permeates into every aspect of the store.

In the fall of October 2006, Danielle was diagnosed with breast cancer. Here is, in her own words, her description of the experience and what she’s going through (excerpted from a message Danielle sent to her mailing list).

“Some of you are aware, but most probably not, that I decided to experience Breast Cancer (silly girl!) And the experience has been like nothing I expected. It has been on the whole a marvelous, positive and uplifting thing.

“No, I haven't gone completely bonkers, well not any more than before! This experience has helped me in so many ways. I never knew how many people around me are angels! Since my illness, so many people have helped in so many ways. All of the healers at Spirit Journey, all of the psychics, customers, teachers and so many more have offered healings, well wishes and more. Pat W. and others have volunteered their time and energy to keep the store open. Spirit Journey is still in it's infancy and not at a point where it is making a profit or even paying me a wage. Because of the Chemotherapy, I haven't been able to keep up my 2nd job (the one that pays the bills) or even work full time at the store and Pat stepped right in and volunteered her time. Talk about Angels!

“The next phase of my healing begins next week with surgery and then 2 more rounds of chemo. Which means that it will be several more months before I'm back to my usual self. But rest assured, I will finish even healthier that I started out!”

Danielle goes into the hospital on January 19^th for a double Mastectomy. Our prayers, thoughts, well-wishes, and healing energies go with her.

This woman has put herself out for our community in every way imaginable, and now she’s facing a crisis of terrifying proportions which she is facing with incredible grace, poise, style, and good will. She has a phenomenally positive outlook on life, even in the midst of this situation. Now it is time for our communities to show our strength by helping her make it through this difficult time.
